Reason #11634 Why I’m Jealous of My Siblings:

They meet famous people.

My sister recently took a trip to New York City with my cousin and one of her friends (see: Reason #11633 Why I’m Jealous of My Siblings). I got a call from her about halfway through the trip, saying, “Guess what I just did!” It turns out that Rachel had been by the Hello Deli earlier that day and had had her photo taken with Rupert Jee of the Late Show.

Rewind to a couple of weeks prior. My brother calls from a NASCAR race he was shooting in Chicago. It wasn’t the best of days, but things were looking up since he had been able to meet Ricky Bobb…I mean, Will Farrell. The SNL alumn was there promoting his new movie, and Adam had been lucky enough to get to him after taking his photo for the paper.

Granted, I’m not a 24-year-old professional photographer or a 21-year-old college senior, but still…being the youngest of three children in my family, stuck at home for another year while my brother and sister live their lives out in the world, does entitle me to a bit of sibling jealousy every once in a while.

And speaking of my 24-year-old professional photographer brother…he turned that nifty number today. It’s hard to believe that the kid I used to wrestle in the upstairs hallway of our house is 365 days shy of a quarter-century old. Tonight, he’s celebrating by going out for ice cream and bowling with a few of his co-workers…

And whad’ya know…I’m jealous.
